Primary school pupils have helped a Council-backed project about homelessness scoop a top award.

And now their work is set to be rolled out to other primary schools as a learning resource to help them understand the plight of other young people less fortunate than themselves.

Youngsters at St Anthony’s Primary School, in Clayton, made a film promoting the Bradford Council-backed project that won the honour at the Northern Silver Screen Awards 2011.

The project, Being Homeless, was one of 12 shortlisted out of a total of 50 entrants for the Best Example of a Multi-Agency Approach category.

It involved Year 5 St Anthony’s pupils and homeless teenagers from the district with support from Bradford Council’s Education Business Partnership Team working in partnership with Connexions, the Council’s Health and Well-being Team and staff from the Council’s Housing, Employment and Skills team.

The final was hosted by the Northern Housing Consortium, which organised the competition at York Racecourse last week.
