York has a brand new Winter Wonderland where you discover the magic of Christmas, and jolly elves will guide you through a magical world, packed with festive fun for all the family. Open in Bustardthorpe Field, at York’s Knavesmire (racecourse) until Christmas Eve. Also in York until tomorrow is the York St Nicholas Fayre, which sees the city come alive with Victorian costumed traders, carol singers, local produce and gifts.
Part of the joy of Christmas if getting together with the family to make festive decorations. This year, why not have a go at making a wreath for your front door? Get a wire and moss base as it is sturdy, and if you spray it frequently with water, the display will stay fresh throughout December. Use a base of holly and add dried cinammon sticks, or oranges and apples. Then a few days before Christmas add some fresh flowers. Fine wire wound around stems, then pushed into the base is the best way to secure your wreath. For a finishing flourise add a big red bow and hang in on your front door.
