Police are trying to piece together events which led to a man being found beaten up on the side of a Bradford road.
Paul Robertshaw, 33, a former insurance salesman, says his confidence has been “totally knocked” after he lost his memory of several hours after a night out and was found in Buttershaw.
He said he had drunk three cans of normal strength lager before going out, and one pint of lager and a shot of sambuca in a club. “I wasn’t drunk,” he said. “I’d been jolly, but fully coherent.
“I want to appeal for any information about what happened to me. It has totally knocked my confidence. I’m not a trouble maker, I’ve never hurt anyone.”
He said things “got hazy” when he was in Chicago’s nightclub in Halifax and the next thing he remembered was having an x-ray at hospital after police found him injured at the side of Easington Avenue, Buttershaw.
“This is only what I was told by the police,” he said. “I was found badly beaten up, my wallet had gone. I can remember what time I got into the club, what I did when I was in there.
“I haven’t got a clue whether my drinks were spiked. I just don’t want it to happen to anybody else. Someone must have seen something.”
A police spokesman confirmed officers were called on Saturday, October 15, at 3.30am, where they found Mr Robertshaw, who had suffered facial injuries.
Bradford South Detective Inspector Vicky Lawrance said: “This man was found by a member of the public and we believed he may have been subject to an assault.
“It is not clear, however, just how he got to Bradford from a nightclub on Silver Street in Halifax.
“He remembers going to the club just after midnight, but unfortunately he has no recollection of where he has been or what he has done after leaving.
“I am appealing for anyone in the Bradford or Halifax area who may recall seeing him during the early hours of Saturday, October 15, to come forward and help us to piece together his movements.
“Likewise, I would call upon anyone who may have transported him between the two areas to get in touch.
Anyone with information is asked to phone Bradford South Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, in confidence, on (0800) 555111.
