Two Bradford brothers serving together in Afghanistan have spoken of their time in one of the most dangerous areas on Earth.
Brothers Lance Corporal Marc O’Connor, 24, and Private Simon O’Connor, 21, of Buttershaw, are serving in Helmand, Afghanistan, in Support Company, 1 Yorks, which forms part of 20 Brigade and Task Force Helmand.
While Marc enlisted in the Army in 2004, and served in Kosovo in 2005 and Iraq in 2006, his sibling enlisted in 2009 and is currently on his first tour of Afghanistan.
LCpl O’Connor, whose girlfriend is pregnant at home in Bradford, said: “It is great having my brother here. We look out for each other and chat about home.
“The days are long and tough going. We are patrolling in the area reassuring and speaking to the locals."
