Andy Lynch has vowed to use his Great Britain snub as further motivation in the Bulls' bid for Super League glory.

The in-form prop surprisingly missed out on Tri-Nations selection yesterday, with Terry Newton and Paul Johnson the only Bradford players picked by Brian Noble.

Having scooped four awards at the club's presentation evening, starring in the play-off annihilation of Salford and then becoming a dad for the first time, Lynch hoped to cap a memorable week.

But he won't be heading Down Under and admitted: "Nobby rang me, said he's going with Gaz Carvell and I'd be on stand-by with Paul Wood. It is disappointing. A few people reckoned I'd be in but I took it with a pinch of salt and didn't expect anything until it was confirmed.

"Now I've just got to bounce back. I had some disappointment last year and came back from that. It's the same now. I can start straightaway by concentrating on getting to Old Trafford."

Gutted Lynch suffered personal heartache last year when he missed out on Bulls' Grand Final success after then-boss Noble opted for short-term recruit Adrian Morley.

But the front-rower returned in sensational form in Super League XI, earning selection in the GB training squad - only to get the dreaded call on Saturday morning.

Later that night though, after helping Bradford triumph and following a frantic race to St James' Hospital in Leeds, Lynch's misery was replaced by joy when Aussie girlfriend April gave birth to his son Tristen shortly before midnight.

"Everything just clicked into place on the pitch and then for Tristen to arrive on the same night - my grandad Bill's birthday - it was even better," said the former Castleford player. "It's hard to put into words being there but it was amazing."

  • Determined Jamie Langley may have accepted defeat in his bid to star for Great Britain this autumn but he is doing overtime to bolster the Bulls' play-off bid.
The crocked loose forward has missed the last three games due to a groin/hernia problem that effectively ruled him out of yesterday's Tri-Nations selection.

Langley is undergoing intensive treatment in a bid to be right for the game with Warrington on Saturday.

"I've been hammering it two hours solid a day with our physio, probably to the stage where I can't walk!" he said.

Paul Johnson is also expected to be fit for the eliminator after the ankle injury he suffered against Salford didn't prove as bad as first feared.
