Trouble-making street drinkers and the shops and pubs that sell them booze, will be named and shamed in an internet campaign run by Bradford city centre police.
Photographs of drinkers given anti-social behaviour orders (Asbos) will be posted alongside their details on the social networking site, Facebook.
Licensed premises found illegally selling alcohol will also be highlighted on the City Ward Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) Facebook page as part of operation Sacred.
The six-month initiative aims to crack down on the problems of street drinking.
City Ward NPT Inspector Kevin Pickles said: “Regular updates on arrests, charges and seizures are already posted on the City Ward NPT Facebook site and have generated some interest. This latest step is to really put pressure on those who are committing offences which either create or contribute to anti-social behaviour in our city. The public have a right to know who is creating the problems and by working together we can continue to make a difference.”
In the first month alone, the team dealing with street drinkers has made 350 stop and searches, confiscated alcohol 35 times, temporarily banned 11 people from the city centre and arrested 18.
