Hundreds of fish have been released into a lake in Clayton as part of a project for disadvantaged children.
The Environment Agency invested £21,000 from the sale of rod licences to help Fogarty Care Services complete the Haven Project, which helps disadvantaged and cared for children take up fishing.
Fisheries officer Pete Turner was yesterday on hand to introduce 400 roach, 200 bream and 200 tench into the lake at Brow Lane, Clayton.
He said the agency had already helped to put in access paths and fishing platforms, as well as carrying habitat improvements and the site.
He said: “In Yorkshire we are very fortunate - we have got hundreds of fisheries for general anglers, but what we don’t have is fisheries like this one which is specially for disadvantaged people.
