A young man curled up in a ball and cried after he was allegedly sexually assaulted by an older man while he was asleep in a camper van on remote moorland, a Court heard.
The 23-year-old victim and two other men had spent a night drinking, smoking cannabis and talking with the defendant, Peter Macmillan-Collins, in his camper van on the moors above Baildon, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.
Prosecutor Nick Askins said the victim had known the other two men for about a month, but had not met the defendant before.
He, and Macmillan-Collins, had a lot to drink and was unable to climb into the top bunk to retire for the night, and fell asleep on a bed next to the passenger door.
Mr Askins said the man had a vivid dream about having sex with a girl and woke to find Macmillan-Collins next to him.
He said it was the prosecution case that the defendant carried out a sexual act without the complainant’s consent while he was asleep.
Mr Askins said the defendant pretended to be asleep, but the complainant realised what he had done.
“He was furious with the defendant and felt disgusted, and proceeded to kick and hit him several times while the defendant was lying on the bed,” said the prosecutor.
The victim went outside and picked up a road sign, intending to throw it through the window of the vehicle, but it was driven away.
He chased the van, but gave it up and curled up in a ball on the ground and cried.
The police were called and the victim cried all the way to the police station.
Macmillan-Collins, 52, of Church View, Kayley Hill, Skipton, who has pleaded not guilty to sexual assault, was interviewed twice by police and maintained he was heterosexual and the allegation was untrue.
But confronted by scientific evidence he changed his story, alleged Mr Askins, and insisted the sex act had been consensual.
The trial continues.
