Bright youngster Molly Tidswell will light up her village this weekend after winning a competition to switch on its Christmas lights.
Molly, ten, a pupil at St Luke’s Primary School, Fagley Lane, was chosen to receive the honour after designing a festive poster.
Funding for the lights was raised at the Eccleshill Village Fair in July and a donation was made by Bradford company SG Ellis (Electrical Contractors) Ltd.
The fair and lights were organised by the Eccleshill Village Steering Group.
Group chairman Simon Loveitt said he was “delighted” Molly was to switch on the lights, on Sunday.
The event will begin with a procession at 5pm and there will be carol singing led by local ladies’ barbershop group, Pennine Chimes.
The switch-on will be at 5.15pm at the Mechanics Institute in the village centre, followed by refreshments and Christmas music.
