A police worker has been charged with causing the death of her 82-year-old mother through neglect.

Angela Pearson, who works for West Yorkshire Police, will appear in court next week, after she was charged in connection with her mother Eileen Pearson’s death.

The 52-year-old, from Guiseley, has been charged with manslaughter by gross negligence and is due to appear before magistrates in Manchester next Friday.

Pearson, who has been suspended from her job, and her mother lived together at a detached house in Fairway, Tranmere Park. Police received reports of the pensioner’s death earlier this year.

Neighbours on the affluent, tree-lined street at the time said officers spent two weeks searching the home and large boards were put up around the perimeter of the property while forensics teams investigated.

Today, the home cuts a forlorn figure where metal sheeting covers the windows and the front door has been replaced with a metal slab.

Neighbours declined to comment on the ongoing court case today.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “A 52-year-old woman is due to appear in court charged in connection with the death of an 82-year-old woman.

“The woman, from Guiseley, was charged on Friday, November 11, with manslaughter by gross negligence of Eileen Pearson whose death was reported to police on May 10 this year.”

The spokesman did not confirm Pearson’s role within force or where she was based but said she was not currently a serving officer.

He said: “We can confirm the woman charged is a member of police staff, not a serving officer. She is currently suspended.”
