A local bus service has been saved thanks to a campaign launched by a Bradford resident.
Ian Brewer, the Neighbourhood Watch warden for East Bowling, who lives in Bowling Hall Road, got more than 1,200 signatures to save the 624 half-hourly service which runs from East to West Bowling.
Backing from Labour Councillor David Green, the executive member for regeneration, and Bradford East MP David Ward, meant a decision was made to keep the bus service as it is.
Mr Brewer hailed a “victory for the people.”
He feared proposed changes to the route, including cutting out West Bowling and making it an hourly service, would lead to facilities such as East Bowling’s swimming pool closing down and impact on pensioners.
He said: “Bradford has a great public transport system which is why I am a customer.
“This early response is down to the sheer weight of “people power” that could not be ignored.
“It is where taxpayers are having their say on what public transport services they deem as necessary for the vulnerable in their communities.”
