Cleckheaton is to benefit from a £2.1 million investment by Yorkshire Water to improve the sewer system and reduce the risk of flooding.
Work is due to start on Monday to install an underground waste water storage tank capable of holding two million litres of waste water – about the same amount of water in an Olympic swimming pool or 25,000 baths.
The work, which is expected to take until April 2012 to complete, is to prevent flooding caused to about 35 properties when sewers become full at times of heavy rain.
