A dedicated volunteer who helped raise more than £1.5 million for charitable causes in the Bradford district is to be remembered in this year’s Christmas Star Appeal.
Joan Canning, 73, of Cullingworth, a member of the Lord Mayor’s Appeal Committee for 15 years, lost her battle with cancer in July. She helped with the Christmas Star Appeal every year after it was started in 2004, preparing stars dedicated to loved ones, which were placed on the City Hall Christmas tree.
Now members of the committee have decided to pay tribute to her hard work and enthusiasm by dedicating a star in her memory.
