Investigations were under way today into the cause of a fire in the bedroom of a terraced house in Barkerend.
Bradford firefighters were called to the house in Wingfield Street, at 7.35pm yesterday after neighbours reported a fire.
A West Yorkshire Fire Service spokesman said crews initially thought somebody was trapped inside the house, but it was found to be empty.
The spokesman said the cause of the fire was under investigation, although it was believed to have been started deliberately.
He said: “When we got there, there was smoke coming from the bedroom and the bedroom window was broken.
“We thought someone was in the property, from what the neighbours said, but on further investigation it turned out to be empty.
“The bed was on fire. It’s believed to be deliberate although the cause is still under investigation.”
