An investigation has been launched after a disabled man and his six-year-old son were kicked off a bus because their fare was 10p short.
Parkinson’s disease sufferer Philip Webster, 51, said he was ‘upset and embarrassed’ when the bus driver refused to let them board outside Shipley Hospital in Kirkgate.
While counting out the 80p fare, Mr Webster says he dropped 10p, which rolled under the partition to the driver’s cab.
When he asked whether he and son Harry would still be allowed to travel, the bus driver said ‘sorry, I can’t help you’, according to Mr Webster of Leyburn Grove, Shipley.
Transdev marketing director Nigel Eggleton said a ‘full investigation’ would be carried out at the company’s Keighley depot, which would involve interviewing the driver.
