An appeal has gone out to Bradfordians to help make the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee extra special by helping light lots of beacons throughout the district next June.
Bradford Council is organising events for June 4 to mark the Queen’s 60 years on the throne.
She is only the second Monarch in history to mark six decades. The first was Queen Victoria.
City Hall chiefs are in talks with parish councils, the Scouts and church groups about lighting their own beacons and, with Bonfire Night upon us, are urging community groups to get in touch and help with the plans.
Lord Mayor, Councillor Naveeda Ikram, said: “We are encouraging communities across the district to get involved with the Diamond Jubilee, whether that is by lighting a beacon, holding a street party or organising a community event or project."
