Government cuts to the police budget are “unfair” on communities in Bradford, a Shadow Minister has warned.
Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper visited the city today and saw work being done to cut down on anti-social behaviour and help young people stay off the streets.
During her visit, the MP warned a 20 per cent cut to the policing budget went “too far”, putting communities at risk when the priority should be on reducing crime.
Inspector Darren Minton, of the West Bowling Neighbourhood Policing Team, showed the Pontefract and Castleford MP an area of West Bowling where a Designated Public Place Order was imposed earlier this year to drive out drink-related anti-social behaviour.
She said: “I think it’s really impressive."
