Sammad Rehman, Rayyan Ahmed and Yousaf Hussain on a Barkerend children’s centre’s Yellow Brick Road
Youngsters followed in the footsteps of Dorothy and Toto to celebrate the opening of a special road yesterday.
They dressed as Wizard of Oz characters to mark the opening of the newly-created Yellow Brick Road, which links Barkerend Children’s Place Day Nursery, Byron Primary School and Sure Start Barkerend Children’s Centre.
Children and parents who follow the road will benefit from sharing resources and expertise and it is hoped that it will help to make a smooth transition from nursery into school.
Children formed a human chain along the road – which was funded by Byron Primary School – to mark the opening, which also featured a balloon release and music.
