A Bradford businessman has taken his promotional activities to new heights.

Dr Zulfi Hussain, who founded company Global Based Synergy Solutions and not-for-profit charity Global Promise, has trekked to Everest Base Camp as part of a bid to raise £250,000 for Help for Heroes, Marie Curie and the National Autistic Society.

Zulfi and his team spent 13 days climbing about 29,000 feet in altitude to base camp last month, arriving in time for his 50th birthday.

He said: “It was tougher than I thought or imagined but it was well worth it. It definitely needed all our physical and mental agility to get us through it, and, at times when it got difficult I thought the harder you climb the better the view.”

He embarked on the mission in partnership with Farsley-based adventure holiday specialists Uncover The World and charity Global Promise, which he set up after the tsunami in 2005.

Zulfi is also hosting a fundraising dinner at his Farsley restaurant, Deeva, on Tuesday, November 15. Tickets are £15 including entertainment. For more information call 07802 920642.
