The family of the late president of the Bradford Royal Naval Association, who navigated treacherous waters to get supplies to Russia during the Second World War, have paid tribute to a man who “loved life”.
Former Royal Navy serviceman Jim Brewer was 88 when he died at his home in Bierley, Bradford, on Tuesday.
To pay tribute to the former chief stoker, his Bradford RNA colleagues will carry the Royal Naval Standard, which will be shrouded in black mourning silk, at the 65th Festival of Remembrance at St George’s Hall on Sunday, which will be attended by the Lord Mayor, Councillor Naveeda Ikram.
