Volunteers are being sought to help expand a scheme which aims to break down barriers between young and older people in Bradford.
Community Service Volun-teers is looking for people aged 17 to 30 who can help run arts and crafts sessions, exercise classes and memory days with older people in their communities.
Project coordinator Kerrianne Flanagan said the charity’s Young at Heart project currently had six volunteers, but could offer more activities in more areas of Bradford with a bit of extra help.
She is currently helping to run exercise and healthy eating sessions at the Landmark Centre in Little Horton and is in talks with other community centres across the city.
“If we had more volunteers we would be able to reach out into the community more,” she said. “It gives a chance for people, no matter who you are or where you’re from, to get involved with the community.
Anyone who would like to find out about becoming a volunteer, or who would like to attend a Young at Heart session, is asked to call Miss Flanagan on (01274) 737266, or e-mail youngatheartbradford@hotmail.co.uk.
