Shipley MP Philip Davies has blasted Justice Secretary Ken Clarke over proposals to scrap indeterminate prison sentences for serious criminals.
Mr Clarke wants to replace Indeterminate sentences for Public Protection (IPPs) with tough determinate sentences.
Using IPPs, serious criminals can be locked up indefinitely by judges. Offenders can only be released from prison once the Parole Board has ruled they are no longer a danger to the public.
Under the proposed Government Bill, those committing serious offences such as violent robbery or grievous bodily harm would be handed longer mandatory sentences, but would no longer rely on a Parole Board ruling to be released.
