Children at a Bradford Thai-boxing club were given a treat when they received a visit from the Lord Mayor.
The Lord Mayor, Councillor Naveeda Ikram, went to see a display by the junior section of Bradford Thai Boxing after the club’s head coach, Alex Abusin, contacted her office.
The Lord Mayor was treated to a display of Thai dancing traditionally performed before matches, called Wai khru ram muay, and displays of more complicated boxing moves by senior members of the club.
James Salmon, for the club, said: “It was good to do a showcase so that the kids could show how much they’d learnt. When someone comes and tells you you’re doing well it’s a confidence boost. The kids have been excited about this visit for three weeks.”
