Bradford is the Curry Capital of Britain 2011 after beating four-times winner and current title holder Glasgow into second place.
The announcement was made at lunchtime today by competition organisers The Federation of Specialist Restaurants.
The district scored highly in every sector and the judges decided the Bradford bid showed deep understanding of the curry sector and particularly noted the creation of the International Food Academy and the Food Ministry.
The restaurants representing Bradford in the competition were Shimla Spice in Keighley, Aagrah Shipley, Prashad in Hor ton Grange Road, Bradford, and Kipling's Restaurant in Greengates.
Other cities taking part includd Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Sheffield and Leicester.
