Millions of pounds of Government cash will be injected into Bradford city centre's regeneration in a bid to create thousands of jobs.
Bradford's bid for £17.6 million from the Regional Growth Fund has been approved, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg announced today.
Combined with Bradford Council cash, it will be used to support new and existing businesses which commit to long term investment in the city's 'growth zone'.
Eligible businesses who locate to the zone will be able to claim a proportion of their business rates over three years providing they create training and employment opportunities.
It is hoped the scheme will create about 2,800 jobs in the city centre.
Councillor David Green, the Council's executive member for regeneration and economy, said: "This is great news for Bradford and it is positive to see the Government has recognised the potential of the city centre.
