Planners are seeking more information about a proposed £30 million leisure, housing and business complex on a former factory site in Keighley.

Bradford Council officers have asked to see a ‘sustainable development survey’ before they will formally accept the outline plans submitted four months ago by The Worthington Group for the Chatsworth Works site, off Bradford Road.

John Taylor, a director of The Worthington Group who lives in Oxenhope, said a consultancy firm was working with planning officers on the outstanding issues and he hoped things would progress soon.

“We are not frustrated by the delay but we are wanting it to go as quickly as it can,” he said. “I don’t think the Council starts counting down the time it takes to make a decision until they have got all the information they need.

“The main thing they want is a survey looking at the catchment area and the kind of people that will use it. They want to make sure there is a need for this development and it is in the right place.

“I can assure people things are going ahead as normal.”
