Anti-capitalist campaigners are gathering in Bradford city centre tonight in protest against banks and governments failing to prevent the global financial crisis.

They set up camp as part of Occupy Bradford, joining 900 similar movements across the world, and have said they will stay indefinitely.

Tents began to spring up from 5pm tonight and a meeting of the general assembly was held to discuss how to co-ordinate the protest over the next few days.

Police officers have also visited Centenary Square to speak to the protesters.

The Bradford protest follows other high-profile protests of hundreds of people outside St Paul’s Cathedral and Wall Street in New York.
