Bradford residents should be able to breathe easier thanks to a funding boost of £102,000 to reduce air pollution in the district.
The funding has come from the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to help local authorities across the country reduce Nitrogen Dioxide emissions.
The grant will be used to finance work on a Low Emission Zone feasibility project and a Low Emission Strategy. The feasibility study will look at the costs, benefits and health impacts, and also the economic development potential and competitive advantage that implementing a Low Emission Zone and Strategy may create.
Ian Bairstow, Bradford Council’s strategic director for environment and sport, said: “This money will allow our officers to make progress with these projects which will ultimately help us to reduce our emissions in the district.
"Air pollution is a challenge for us as a local authority and something which we are trying to tackle for the benefit of our residents.”
