Ten of the top 100 hotspots for “crash for cash” accidents in the UK, are in Bradford and Keighley, new research has revealed.
Organised crime gangs stage fraudulent accidents before making claims, sometimes inventing fictitious passengers or injuries, a spokesman for Direct Line said.
The insurance company carried out the research which identified the ten hotspot areas in Bradford and Keighley.
Although none of the spots are in the UK top ten, they make up ten per cent of the top 100.
Paul Hubbard, head of counter fraud operations at Direct Line, said the concentration of incidents within Keighley and Bradford shows they are “quite organised” in those areas. There are more hotspots in Bradford and Keighley, he said, than anywhere else in Yorkshire.
