An explosion caused the front of a Bradford newsagent to be blown into the street during a fire early today.
Crews were called to the blaze, which was being treated as suspicious, at Wyke News in Huddersfield Road, Wyke, at about 12.10am.
Crew commander Dave Cookson, of Odsal fire station, said the explosion, which caused the front door and windows to be blown into the street, was believed to have been caused by a backdraft in the shop.
He said: “As we travelled down Huddersfield Road we could see a lot of smoke, so we knew it was fairly serious.
“When we got there the front of the shop had actually blown out into the road.
“The fire was fairly well developed at this stage.”
