The villagers of Anatevka will be singing their hearts out this autumn in Bradford Catholic Players’ production of Fiddler On The Roof.
The musical, which is ultimately very moving but has a warm, earthy humour, features the songs If I Were A Rich Man, Sunrise, Sunset and Tradition.
The cast of more than 60 includes ten young children, while twins Nicholas Carroll and his sister Anne-Marie are playing Tevye the milkman and his wife, Golde. The powerful story, narrated by Tevye, follows a small Jewish community trying to adapt to change, while maintaining its traditions.
“Some may think of it as a sad story, where people are forced to flee from their homes, but David Kirk’s imaginative production will set this change against a belief in a newer, stronger society where optimism and hope abound,” says Debbie Carroll of the Players.
The show runs at the Alhambra from November 16 to 19. Ring (01274) 432000.
