The son of a pensioner killed as he crossed a road has spoken of his family’s devastation at losing their ‘happy-go-lucky‘ father.
Father-of-five Rexford Barnett, 73, was walking to the bookmakers to watch horse racing when he was in a collision with a car on Manchester Road at 11am on Friday, September 9.
The great-grandfather, nicknamed ‘Little’ by his friends and noticeable by his trilby hat, died from multiple injuries. His son Andrew Barnett said family, including his uncle Roy, sister Lorreen and brother Owen, and friends were shattered.
“It has not really registered at all to me that he has gone and I don’t know when it is going to,’ Mr Barnett said.
His funeral will be held later this week.
