Crowd favourite Shontayne Hape admits the Bulls need to start winning ugly.
Having lost badly in three of their last four matches, Bradford are staggering to a standstill just as they need to be moving into top gear.
Even the silky-skilled Kiwi, pictured, has struggled to spark them up in dismal back-to-back defeats against relegation-threatened duo Wigan and Wakefield.
However, rather than looking further to their star centre for inspiration, Hape reckons he is going to have to rein in his attacking instincts even more to kick-start any recovery.
The defending champions play their final regular Super League fixture at Huddersfield on Sunday and 17-try Hape insisted: "We've got to get back to boring football.
"It's been really tough playing all the bottom teams in the last four weeks.
"They are all the ones scrapping against relegation with their jobs on the line and mentally it hasn't been right for us.
"You could tell Wakefield had more hunger than us on Friday. At times in the games I've been trying to do something special to help the team but it's not really worked or come off.
"I've ended up pushing the pass or dropping the ball but it creates a snowball effect and rubs off on everyone else.
"We just need to get back to our winning ways and we might have to do it boring before we start thinking about getting to another Grand Final."
Hape has cut a frustrated figure in the misfiring Bulls side, starved of quality possession and struggling to have his usual impact as they battled it out with desperate opponents.
But, for the first time in a month, Bulls now face a team unconcerned about the drop, which should help their own needs.
And the New Zealander remains confident they can emerge from this slump in time for another run at Old Trafford.
"We need to try and win some games and get some momentum heading into the play-offs," said Hape.
"We've been saying that for the last two weeks but it must now happen at Huddersfield.
"We're looking to try and regain some form and it all starts by working together as a team.
"A win will instil a little confidence and, once that is back, we hope we can get to a sixth Grand Final - but we know it's going to be hard.
"When we come to the finals and play in the big games, we know what all that is about, but we have to start on Sunday by beating Huddersfield."
Meanwhile, Bradford are resigned to losing Karl Pryce to rugby union side Gloucester.
Bulls have offered the centre, 20, a new three-year contract but chairman Peter Hood said: "We believe the player has signed for Gloucester but no-one has told us.
"The player has been incommunicative, except to say that Bradford Bulls are the only club in rugby league he is ever interested in playing for."
Hood said they would retain the player's registration until his 23rd birthday and Pryce would become a Bradford player once more if he returns to rugby league in that time.
Under League regulations, they would also be entitled to a transfer fee if he went to another Super League club.
