A 26-year-old man has been arrested after the body of a young woman was found at a house in Bradford.

Police were called to the house in Richardson Avenue, Odsal, at 6.46pm last night.

The unnamed woman, who is believed to be 25, was found with serious injuries and pronounced dead at the scene.

Richardson Avenue was cordoned off today as police officers kept a watch on the house.

Garden furniture was strewn across the grass at the back of the house and a female officer stood guard next to an open window which was covered by silver plastic.

A West Yorkshire police spokesman said: "On arrival officers discovered the body of a local woman, believed to be a 25-year-old.

Paula Crossland, 34, of neighbouring Collbrook Avenue, Odsal, said she had been returning home when she saw police cars arriving.

She said: "As I was walking back I saw two police cars and the street had been taped up."

She added: "It is quite scary, you don't expect something like this on your doorstep."

Mrs Crossland said she believed a couple lived in the house with their 11-year-old son.
