A graduate from the district has travelled to South America to help disabled children receive a better education.
Jennifer Stoddart, from Ilkley, has set up a school bus for youngsters with special needs and is appealing for funds to keep the service running. The 22-year-old was inspired to volunteer in Peru by Ilkley aid worker Leander Hollings, who runs the charity My Small Help. The former Skipton High School pupil is involved in a disabled outreach programme, which includes transport to Arco Iris – the only school in the Sacred Valley region for those with special needs.
