Foster children, their carers and birth children of foster parents played together in harmony at the weekend.
But not all vulnerable older children enjoy activities like this Saturday morning club’s music group held in Shipley.
Recently published figures show a lack of foster carers in Bradford means some children are being looked after outside the district.
Almost 450 children over ten are in the care of Bradford Council, 259 of whom are living with foster carers or in residential care.
Because there are not enough foster carers in Bradford for the age group, there are 30 youngsters over the age of ten who are cared for outside the district or are in residential homes.
During Foster Care Fortnight, which runs until Sunday, Bradford Council is appealing to anyone who wants to find out more about fostering to get in touch.
Councillor Ralph Berry, Bradford Council’s executive member for children and young people, described fostering as a “vocation of enormous responsibility which can lead to great personal reward”.
Anyone who wants further information can phone (01274) 434331.
