Six volunteers from Yorkshire Building Society’s head office on Rooley Lane, Bradford, visited Parklands Primary School in Old Park Road, Thorpe Edge, to attempt some DIY and build an outdoor seating area for the pupils.
Robin Churchouse, finance director for the Society, was one of the volunteers helping to create the area for open- air lessons.
Richard Wood, leader of the volunteers said: “We’re delighted to be doing something that will benefit the future generations of Bradford and show that Yorkshire is proud to be part of Bradford.
“Yorkshire Building Society has been a strong supporter of local schools in the Bradford area, and in the past year other teams of volunteers from the Society have visited the school and created a pond and bog garden and raised flower and herb beds to allow children to grow produce and learn about healthy eating.”
The volunteers from Yorkshire Building Society were brought together with the school thanks to Be Involved, a business engagement programme for Bradford that finds opportunities for businesses to contribute to the social and economic regeneration of the district.
