joins fundraisersA cancer patient who had to choose between receiving life-saving treatment for herself and the health of her unborn child will run this year’s Race For Life to give thanks for both their lives.
Stephanie Papworth said this year’s race in Bradford’s Lister Park will be a poignant occasion.
She had to pull out of last year’s event because she got her cancer diagnosis the day before.
The 33-year-old, who was seven weeks pregnant when she found a lump, is one of only a few women with breast cancer ever to be given chemotherapy in Bradford while expecting.
Now, one year on and having just completed her last radiotherapy session, she cannot wait to run.
“I’m full of so much hope and thanks for my life and Gabriel’s,” she said.
Gabriel was born at Bradford Royal Infirmary at 34 weeks and weighed in at 4lbs 13oz.
To sponsor her run the Race For Life on Sunday, June 12 should go to raceforlifesponsorme.org/stephaniewaters3008.
