A man whose burning body was found on a bonfire in a Bradford park has been named by police as Duane Eddy Coleman.

The 33-year-old’s body was found in Pit Hill Park, off Holme Lane, by firefighters early on Thursday.

He was believed to have lived in Oakroyd Villas, Manningham, where friends described him as a “genuine guy”.

A man, who did not want to be named, said: “He’s got a lot of friends who care about him. He was a very good friend, a genuine guy, he wouldn’t harm anyone. He was so good, so much of a nice guy.”

A woman, who would be named only as Caroline, said: “We all love him, he has lots of friends.

“If he saw you and you were upset he would just make your day.”

Jason Lowther, 39, appeared at Bradford Crown Court yesterday accused of murder between May 10 and May 13 this year.

He is also charged with perverting the course of justice, along with a co-defendant, Levi Ibbotson, 32, of Wenborough Lane, Holme Wood, Bradford.

Both appeared in the secure dock where Ibbotson was handcuffed to a security officer.

Lowther’s solicitor, Alistair Bateman, said his client was of no fixed address and was not living at an address given to the court earlier, at Peverell Close, Holme Wood.

Judge James Goss QC fixed a trial date for October 3, with a plea and case management hearing on August 10.

The men were remanded in custody.

Yesterday, police arrested a further six men aged from 19 to 29 and two women aged 47 and 35, in Bradford, on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice in connection with the death. They were being questioned last night.
