A 39-year-old man has been charged with murder and was due to appear in Court today following the discovery of a badly burned body in a Bradford park.
Homicide squad detectives have been holding the suspect in police custody since Thursday evening, where he has been questioned in connection with the burned man’s death.
Last night a spokesman for West Yorkshire Police confirmed that the man had been charged and will appear at Bradford Magistrates’ Court. He also faces a charge of perverting the course of justice.
A second man, aged 32, who was also arrested hours after the body was found in Pit Hill Park, off Holme Lane, near to the Holme Wood estate on Thursday, is charged with perverting the course of justice.
He was also due to appear before Bradford magistrates this morning The two men, who are believed to be cousins, were arrested on suspicion of murder when police officers swooped on an address in Eggleston Drive, Holme Wood.
Last night a spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said the force was not yet ready to release the identity of the deceased.
Nor were investigators ready to announce the outcome of the post-mortem examination which took place on Friday, the spokesman added.
It was not until Saturday that the police confirmed the body was that of a man.
