Police investigating a suspicious package found in a Bradford hedgerow yesterday have revealed it contained a white powder chemical mix.
The powder, which tests showed was a mixture of a chemical additive used in the manufacture of UPVC windows and a food additive, posed no significant risk to the public, a spokesman said.
The discovery was made in New Works Road, Low Moor, after it was reported at 7.20am.
The spokesman said: “We believe these substances were discarded from a curtain-sided heavy goods vehicle which was broken into nearby.
“The 100-metre cordon was established as a precaution.
“We would like to thank people for their patience while the cordon was put in place and the tests were carried out.”
