An 18-year-old Bingley woman remained in hospital last night for treatment for serious head injuries following a two-car smash.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the driver of a Volkswagen Touran-style car fled the scene following the crash in Cottingley Road, Sandy Lane, Bradford.
The teenager was a back seat passenger in a Vauxhall Corsa car being driven from Wilsden towards Bradford at about 11.20pm on Saturday.
The Volkswagen was in collision with the car at the Haworth Road junction, causing “significant damage” to the Corsa, which left the road and hit a wall, said police.
A police spokesman said: “An 18-year-old Bingley girl, who was a passenger in the back of the car, received serious head injuries and was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary where she was described as stable.
“Three other teenagers in the vehicle were all uninjured.”
A Bradford man was later arrested in connection with the crash. Airedale and North Bradford CID have urged anyone who saw the crash or a damaged silver VW Touran-style car shortly afterwards to contact PC Adams at the Roads Policing Unit on 0845 6060606.
