Libraries in the Bradford district will celebrate Adult Learners’ Week by encouraging more people to use the internet.
Free events are to be held at every library in the district as part of the country’s largest learning campaign, which runs from Monday until Saturday, May 21.
Activities, which will also link in with UK Online’s Spring Online campaign, include drop-in sessions with information on free computer courses and classes on how to use a mouse and keyboard using the BBC’s First Click website.
Staff at Central Library will be on hand to help visitors use its 24/7 service to make reservations, requests and view its online catalogue.
They will also help people to discover how books and the internet can provide information on their favourite pastimes.
Councillor, the Reverend Paul Flowers, Bradford Council’s executive member with responsibility for leisure, said: “We know how important lifelong learning is, and we want to show our residents what is available in the district.
“Getting online can improve a person’s job prospects, their family’s chances, and it can be great fun. We are sure that once they have started, they won’t want to stop.”
