Plans to restore a popular park have taken a step forward.

Funding has been agreed to renew paths through the Memorial Park, in Cleckheaton.

Councillor Kath Pinnock (lib Dem, Cleckheaton) said: “Our focus on getting our lovely Memorial Park fully restored is taking a step further.

“Funding has been agreed by the Spen Valley Committee to get the paths through the park restored. The work will be done later this year.

“At the suggestion of the Royal British Legion, work will be done to improve the flower beds and the landscaping around the boundary.

“Old shrubs will be removed so that people travelling on Dewsbury Road can easily see and admire the park.

“At our suggestion, new roses are being planted to replace those that had been there for 40 odd years.

“It will all help to restore our Memorial Park back to its former glory.”
