The Thornton Singers are performing a series of spring concerts called The Power Of Music. The first takes place at Westgate Baptist Church, Manningham, on Saturday, May 14, at 7pm. The guest soloist is Howard Naylor, on cornet, and there will also be performances from Philip Lee, a Thornton Singers bass, and the compere will be Doreen Lee.
The next concert is at Haworth Road Methodist Church, Heaton, on Wednesday, May 18, at 7.30pm. Funds will go to Manorlands Hospice. Guest soloist is classical guitarist James Fearnley, and there will be recitations from choir member Anne Ashcroft. The compere will be Geoff Pickles.
The programme for both concerts includes music from John Rutter, Morte Christe, Die Fledermaus, Perry Como and Kings Of Swing. For tickets, ring Jane on (01274) 561270 or Sandra on (01274) 491229.
