Police in Bradford have urged the public to log details of rogue off-road riders as they step up action against the menace.

Officers in the North Bradford Neighbourhood Policing Team are asking residents to take note of anti-social motorbike or quad riders in their communities and to report any information they have to help officers seize machines and take appropriate action.

Police patrols have been stepped up in areas known to be used by off-road bikers and there have been regular seizures of illegal machines in recent months, including the seizure of an off-road bike seen being used in Kipping Lane without insurance or an MOT by a rider not wearing a helmet.

The rider now faces court action as a result of the offence, and could face a driving ban.

Residents are asked to provide as much detail as possible, including, if possible, the name of the rider, the vehicle’s registration or failing that, a detailed description of both the rider and bike. Photographs are also useful as evidence, police say.

Keeping records of times, dates and locations of the motorbikes will also help police.

Sergeant Dave Williams, of the North Bradford Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We do have powers to seize illegal off road vehicles and will do all we can to take these machines from our open spaces.

“We also need the help of residents however to let us know where to focus resources and to build up the evidence we need to take action against those responsible.

“If you are experiencing nuisance bike use in your area please contact us at the North Bradford NPT on (01274) 475272.”
