An MP has added his voice to hundreds of people objecting to plans to build new homes in Menston.
Shipley MP Philip Davies is the latest person to register his criticism of plans by developer Taylor Wimpey to build up to 135 homes on Bingley Road in the village.
The MP has previously voiced his disapproval of plans for more than 170 homes at Derry Hill in the village and has now said the “beautiful greenfield” site at Bingley Road should be preserved.
Last month, more than 98 per cent of voters in a village referendum were against the plans for the 300 new homes.
A total of 1,760 residents backed a motion urging Bradford Council to turn down planning applications by Taylor Wimpey and Barratt Homes, with only 28 against.
Hundreds of people have already written to the Council expressing their concerns about the most recent scheme on Bingley Road, and Mr Davies is the latest to reveal his anxiety.
“It is a beautiful greenfield site which should be preserved especially when there are so many brownfield sites that could be developed and there are still many homes for sale at the nearby High Royds development,” Mr Davies has told the Council.
He went on to say he opposed the plan on several grounds including the risk of flooding, congestion on the road and rail networks, the impact on wildlife and the impact on nearby established properties.
