One of Bradford’s major employers is to bring a further jobs boost to the city.
Credit firm Provident Financial is set to create up to 250 new jobs at a new call centre based in its Thornton Road head office where about 750 staff are based.
Although the move is yet to be formally confirmed, it is likely that a second call centre for Provident’s expanding Vanquis Bank credit card subsidiary will be established towards the end of this year, with up to 250 staff being recruited over the next couple of years.
The decision has been made due to Vanquis Bank outgrowing its original call centre in Chatham. Kent.
Provident chief executive Peter Crook said choosing Bradford as the site for a second call centre was "a no brainer" as the city had an exceptional talent pool.
Shareholders were today being updated about Provident’s progress at the company’s annual meeting. The company recently said it had made a strong start to 2011 and was on track to grow further as the economy picked up.
