A series of grassland fires kept firefighters busy today.
An area of railway embankment off New Lane, Laisterdyke, spanning 50 sq metres caught fire at 4pm.
Firefighters stopped to extinguish the blaze when they spotted it as they were driving back to Bradford fire station from another call.
Half an hour later the crew dealt with a similar incident near to the Smiling Mule public house in Moorside Road, Bradford, and at 5.30pm And two pumps from Brighouse fire station attended to a fire in Judy Woods. The team spent four hours damping a grassland covering approximately 100 sq metres.
The fires were blamed on the dry conditions although deliberate ignition was not being ruled out.
