A Bradford cricket club is facing a “crippling” financial situation that is threatening its future after a series of thefts and break-ins at its historic ground.
The Wibsey Park Chapel club, which plays at the former Yorkshire County ground at Bradford Park Avenue, in Canterbury, Bradford, is being plagued by thieves and vandals on a weekly basis.
The cost of repairs and replacements at the ageing ground has left the club with a threat to its future.
The club’s welfare officer, Paul Ravenscroft, said the Park Avenue ground had been left to deteriorate over the years, with the pavilion long gone and the terracing in a poor state. But now it had more to worry about at the hands of persistent thieves, he said.
